I get a lot of questions on what my favorite products are to use on my hair and how I curl my hair. I wanted to share with you all my top tips and tricks for curling and straightening my hair along with my favorite hairspray and heat protectant spray.
I recently received a hair brush straightener in the mail from the Dry bar and also heat protectant spray. Before receiving this straightener, I never really wore my hair straight because of the hassle involved. I love how easy it is to use this straightener. I have naturally wavy hair, especially when I sleep on my hair wet. My hair is done in 10 minutes and it makes it easy to get ready in the morning. I definitely recommend the brush crush straightener, especially if you have naturally wavy or curly hair. It can heat up to 450 degrees, but I normally keep it at 350 degrees.
I also recommend the Hot Toddy Heat Protectant Spray from Drybar as well for both when straightening and curling your hair. It helps protect your hair from the heat and also leaves it with a shiny look. The spray protects up to 450 degrees which is what most hot irons highest temperature is. You can use my code: Autumn10 at Drybar.com website checkout for both the straightener and the heat protectant spray.
When it comes to curling hair, I recommend using the hot tools curling iron from Ulta. I have tried wands before and have been unsuccessful many times. I can’t figure out the wands, so more power to you if a wand works for you. My ends never seem to curl as well when using the wand, so I use the curling iron instead.
When using the curling iron, I first spray my hair with heat protectant and split the hair how I want it to look when finished. Then I curl my hair in sections, curling backwards instead of forwards. I start from the top of the hair and slowly curl through the bottom to get a nice tight curl. Once finished curling all of my hair, I then flip my hair over and run my fingers through it. This helps give my hair body and also makes the curls look more natural. I then tease sections of my hair that will give it body and then smooth it out and spray it with my favorite hairspray, Tresemme Extra Hold Hairspray.
This is how I get the best results when curling and straightening my hair. I’d love to hear from you all on how you curl your hair and what tools you use. I am always looking for new products and ways to curl/straighten my hair. Hope you all have a great weekend! I am heading off to FL for the weekend!
XOXO,
Autumn
