Thanksgiving Outfit Ideas/Top Favorite Sweaters for Fall

It’s hard to believe that we are already three weeks away from Thanksgiving. It is such a fun time of year with lots of family, food, and celebrating. I love thanksgiving and Christmas! It’s my favorite time of the year, since both my husband and I’s birthdays are right before thanksgiving and our anniversary is after it. I wanted to share with you all some outfit ideas for that special thanksgiving day and also some of my favorite sweaters for this fall/winter.

If your family gathering is more of a dressy occasion then I recommend going with a long sleeve dress or skirt. I love a nice long sleeve sweater dress or floral dress. You can find a lot of great dresses like this one from Francesca’s or Red Dress Boutique. If you live in a colder area then adding a pair of booties or OTK boots would look super cute and keep you warm.

If you’re family is having more of a casual gathering then I would recommend jeans and a nice sweater or pullover. This green sweater from Red Dress Boutique is one of my favorite with my OTK boots. It is made from a comfortable chenille material and even has a hoody. I also love this casual ivory sweater from Francesca’s. If you are going for a really casual outfit then I would go with a pullover. This one from Shop I Love Jewelry is my favorite and it is even monogrammed as well. It’s also a great Christmas gift.

Sweaters are perfect for this time of year, now that the temps have been dropping below 60 degrees. You can add a cute plaid scarf to any sweater too. I am a huge sweater fan! Some of my favorite sweaters are from Red Dress Boutique. They have cutest chenille sweaters! I added several of my top favorite sweaters from different stores. You can shop all of my favorites on this post.

I hope you all have a great Halloween and a great week!

Black is a great color for anyone to wear and it’s really popular this year. I love a good black dress for the fall. I found a simple black casual dress from a store called Bealls and I want to share with you different ways you can style a simple piece. There are endless options to styling a black dress.

Layering is great way to style a black dress. I added this cute burgundy moto jacket from Francesca’s and some black heels to dress it up. I am wearing a size small in the jacket and it’s under $60. It goes perfect with a top and jeans as well. It could be paired with some booties or OTK boots during the winter. You can also add a simple cardigan in any color with some boots. Another way to layer is by adding a sweater over top the dress.

There are endless shoe options with a black dress. You can put on a pair of black or leopard heels and dress up the look. You could also throw on a pair of flat leopard mules like mine from Gap Factory. OTK boots or short booties can also go really well with a black dress for a fall look.

There are so many different options and ways to style a casual black dress. Hope you all enjoy your week and have a great Halloween!

Charleston Travel Guide

My husband and I had the opportunity to travel to Charleston last week for our annual vacation together. I have to say, we were both very impressed and fell in love with the city. The city is not just beautiful for all of the buildings that line the streets, but also for the history behind all of those buildings. I wanted to share with you all about our trip and some of our top picks for restaurants and things to do/see while visiting Charleston.

A highlight from our trip were the many side streets of beautiful historical homes. Down near the battery right along the bay, you will find some of the most gorgeous southern homes. They are all lined with iron fences and beautiful columns in the front and all include the famous side porch. If you go exploring down near the battery, be sure to take a walk down through the side streets all the way to Broad St. We found several historical homes that belonged to people in our American History. Rainbow Row is definitely a neat to see, but some of the homes down the side streets nearby are even more beautiful. Several of the streets also still have the old stone or cobble roads which also makes Charleston a unique city.

Our favorite part about exploring downtown Charleston was definitely the restaurants. Charleston is known for their amazing food and have some of the best southern places to eat at. Make sure to always take recommendations from the servers on what food tastes the best at the restaurant. Some of our favorites included Paw, Paw, Poogan’s Porch, Miller’s All Day, Carmella’s Dessert and Bar, and Tavern and Table. Paw, Paw had the most amazing duck dish and had a neat industrial style inside. Also, make sure to try their truffle fries for an appetizer, they were absolutely amazing. Poogan’s Porch had the most amazing southern food and charm. At Poogan’s Porch you get to sit on an old southern porch of an old house. Tavern and Table was perfect for a nice burger and fries and sits on Shem Creek. I think our favorite was Carmella’s Dessert since we are both big dessert fans. They have mini cakes, cookies, gelato, and the best sorbet I have ever tried. It’s a neat spot for a dessert and coffee or dessert and wine.

We also went to the Isle of Palms Beach while we were there and it was really nice. It’s a quiet beach with a pier and lots of fun beach shopping and restaurants nearby. We tried the Coconut Joe’s for lunch at the beach and it was perfect for a lunch date. Most of the locals recommend Isle of Palms or Sullivan’s Island Beach over Folly Beach. So we did not even explore the other ones. Isle of Palms also has a Ben and Jerry’s ice cream shop close by which is always great on a beach day.

If you have some extra time downtown, definitely explore the Pineapple Fountain, the college of Charleston and the market downtown. The market has a neat history behind the building and lots of different unique shops. The Pineapple Fountain is so pretty and the park around it is also great to walk around in.

We stayed at an air bnb for the first time in Mt. Pleasant and loved it. Our Air Bnb was an old carriage house that had been updated into a new apartment. We had a full kitchen which was perfect for breakfast and lunch. I definitely recommend trying out Air Bnb for your next trip.

Charleston is truly a beautiful city and we can’t wait to go back again soon to visit. If you are planning a trip there soon, please feel free to ask me questions or recommendations. Hope you all have a great week and Happy Fall!

XOXO.

Hair Tips and Tricks

I get a lot of questions on what my favorite products are to use on my hair and how I curl my hair. I wanted to share with you all my top tips and tricks for curling and straightening my hair along with my favorite hairspray and heat protectant spray.

I recently received a hair brush straightener in the mail from the Dry bar and also heat protectant spray. Before receiving this straightener, I never really wore my hair straight because of the hassle involved. I love how easy it is to use this straightener. I have naturally wavy hair, especially when I sleep on my hair wet. My hair is done in 10 minutes and it makes it easy to get ready in the morning. I definitely recommend the brush crush straightener, especially if you have naturally wavy or curly hair. It can heat up to 450 degrees, but I normally keep it at 350 degrees.

I also recommend the Hot Toddy Heat Protectant Spray from Drybar as well for both when straightening and curling your hair. It helps protect your hair from the heat and also leaves it with a shiny look. The spray protects up to 450 degrees which is what most hot irons highest temperature is. You can use my code: Autumn10 at Drybar.com website checkout for both the straightener and the heat protectant spray.

When it comes to curling hair, I recommend using the hot tools curling iron from Ulta. I have tried wands before and have been unsuccessful many times. I can’t figure out the wands, so more power to you if a wand works for you. My ends never seem to curl as well when using the wand, so I use the curling iron instead.

When using the curling iron, I first spray my hair with heat protectant and split the hair how I want it to look when finished. Then I curl my hair in sections, curling backwards instead of forwards. I start from the top of the hair and slowly curl through the bottom to get a nice tight curl. Once finished curling all of my hair, I then flip my hair over and run my fingers through it. This helps give my hair body and also makes the curls look more natural. I then tease sections of my hair that will give it body and then smooth it out and spray it with my favorite hairspray, Tresemme Extra Hold Hairspray.

This is how I get the best results when curling and straightening my hair. I’d love to hear from you all on how you curl your hair and what tools you use. I am always looking for new products and ways to curl/straighten my hair. Hope you all have a great weekend! I am heading off to FL for the weekend!

How to transition into fall with light layers

I love everything about the fall! Pumpkin patches, corn mazes, apple picking and best of all the cool weather. I am getting so excited for fall to come this weekend! We have been having warmer weather recently, so I wanted to share with you all some ways to transition into fall with light layers and my favorite fall wardrobe must haves.

One of my favorite pieces to transition into fall is short sleeve and long sleeve tees. I love that tees are so versatile. They can be worn in the Spring/Summer and the Fall as well. My favorite simple tee is this black one from Gap Factory for $25 normally but currently on sale for $10. This black tee can be worn by itself with jeans or you can add a simple cardigan. You can also easily dress it up with a skirt and a pair of ankle boots.

Cardigans are also a must have for light layering in the fall. You can add a cardigan over a dress or over a simple tee. The options are endless with cardigans! I linked my two favorite I grabbed from Nordstrom and a couple other ones I love. I am wearing a size XS/Small in both of the cardigans. They are so comfortable and perfect for when you walk inside somewhere and the A/C is on.

Another favorite fall transition piece I love is a great pair of mules or ankle boots. Leopard is one of my current favorite trends for fall. I found these cute leopard mules at the Gap Factory on sale for under $20. They are selling out pretty fast so I would grab them now. There is nothing better than a great ankle boot for the fall. I am loving the cut out ankle boots with the pointy toes. I found these cute grey ankle boots at Red Dress Boutique for $36. I am wearing a size 7, but would recommend sizing down a half size. They are also so comfortable to wear. I wore them around TN a whole day and they didn’t hurt my feet at all. I also linked my favorite black and nude booties too.

Jeans are a must have all year round, but especially during the fall. I found these cute cropped jeans at Francesca’s for under $50. If you are on the shorter height end these are perfect. I am 5’3″ and these fit me perfectly. They are a mid rise jean in a light wash and I am wearing a size 27. I definitely recommend going up a size in these. Francesca’s has a lot of other cute jeans too. My other favorite pair of jeans is the American Eagle Next Level Short Length Jeggings in a dark wash. I linked those as well as some other jeans I really love.

These are some of my favorite ways to transition into fall clothes and some of my favorite fall trends. Hoping this helps you transition into fall as well. I’d love to hear from you all in the comments on what your favorite fall clothing pieces are. Have a great week!
