The Perfect Fall Dress For Weddings/Date Night

I am so excited fall weather is right around the corner…at least I am hoping so! I love this time of year filled with pumpkin spice lattes, corn mazes, and the crisp air. There is nothing I love more than fall weather and fall fashion. I will be sharing a lot of my favorites throughout the next couple weeks. One of my favorite things to wear in the fall is a dress with a cardigan and some boots. I wanted to share with you my favorite fall dress so far and how to style it.

One of my favorite things to wear in the fall is a dress with a cardigan and some boots. I wanted to share with you my favorite fall dress so far and how to style it.

An online site called Shein.com has some of the most affordable clothes. The material can be thin at times, but you can easily throw on a tank top or slip underneath and make any of their outfits great. I snagged a burgundy scalloped short sleeve dress from their site a few weeks back for fall for only $9. I love the fit and it goes perfect with boots and a cardigan.

I am wearing an XS in the dress and it fits very snug, so you could go up a size, but I love my dresses to fit well. The scalloped lace on the bottom does make it difficult to wear a slip underneath, but if you throw on a spanx slip it will work nicely with the dress.

I paired the dress with some nude ankle boots and an oatmeal colored cardigan. However, the dress can also be worn with black ankle boots and a grey cardigan too for another casual look. To dress up the look you can pair it with some black or nude heels. I definitely think it’s so versatile and could be worn on either a date night or even to a wedding.

I will definitely be taking this dress with me to Charleston in October. I can’t wait to share my travel adventures with you all over the next couple weeks! Hope you all have a great weekend! Don’t forget that you can shop all my items from the pictures through the links in this post or follow me on the LiketoKnowIt app to shop all of my outfits.

My Disney Tips and Tricks

am going on a trip to visit my family next month and we are going to be heading to Disney. If I could I would live in the Magic Kingdom, but not really. My parents live in Florida so my husband and I go to visit often. That means lots of trips to Disney. I have visited all of the parks many times and I have to say Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom are my two favorite! I figured I would share some of my best tips with you all if you are planning a trip to Disney.

As many of you know I am a huge Disney fan! I am going on a trip to visit my family next month and we are going to be heading to Disney.

1. Pick the right time to go

My number one tip for visiting Disney is picking the right time of the year to go. I recommend not going in the summer and rather going anytime in October through November or January through March. You avoid the crowds and hot temperatures when going those times of year versus the summer. If you do go during the summer, definitely go in June instead of July and August.

2. Make sure to plan ahead

I recommend using the Disney Experience app to plan for your trip. You can buy tickets through the app and also plan fast passes and dinner reservations. Speaking of fast passes, it is smart to plan your fast passes a month in advance. You want to put most of your fast passes in the morning. Once you use the three original passes, then you can sign up for individual ones on the app as well.

3. Plan your dinner reservations

If you know you want to go to a specific restaurant then I would like to encourage you to reserve in advance. You can do that through the My Disney Experience App. One of my absolute favorite restaurants at Disney is the Be Our Guest restaurant in Magic Kingdom. I also love Rainforest Cafe in Disney Springs. It’s definitely a great experience for kids.

4. What to wear to the parks

I always recommend going with something comfortable. I usually go with a romper or casual sundress and sandals during the fall and wear jeans and a top during January through March. It usually is cooler in the evenings during the fall and spring so always bring a sweatshirt or sweater. I always bring a backpack with snacks, water, and sun lotion.

Hope all of these tips help you all and I can’t wait to share my pictures from my upcoming trip! Hope you all have a great week!

The Reality of buying a fixer upper

I absolutely love owning our own place now. I feel like we can really make it look how we want it to. However, there are some difficulties of buying a home that was previously owned by someone else. So I am going to share some house buying tips with you all and what it looks like to full time fix up a house.

As many of you already know, we recently purchased our first home. We were actually not looking to buy a home at this point, but this opportunity fell into our lap and I am so thankful it did. I absolutely love owning our own place now. I feel like we can really make it look how we want it to. However, there are some difficulties of buying a home that was previously owned by someone else. So I am going to share some house buying tips with you all and what it looks like to full time fix up a house.

Before buying the house:

1. Make sure you pick a realtor you know and trust.

  • This was so helpful for us being first time home buyers, my friend Arlene Unger is an agent and actually goes to our church. She also happens to be one of the most recommended realtors in our area. So if you don’t personally know a realtor make sure to check their recommendations and ask around first.

2. Also pick a loan officer you’d like to go with as well. We also had a friend who is one and went with him. He gave us the best interest rate too. Same thing goes with this one as a realtor. Read reviews, ask lots of people who they have worked with or think is the best one.

3. Make sure if you are buying a previously owned house to get homeowners insurance and also get the house inspected. You might find something during the inspection that could be a make or break for the house.

4. Be smart with your money! You don’t need a credit card to get a loan. Student loans and other loans count towards your credit. We learned this one from Dave Ramsey.

What buying a fixer upper really looks like:

1. Everything won’t be done at the same time. We have already painted almost all of the house, but are still waiting on our flooring. It takes patience waiting for something like that. We have also found many minor things that will eventually need to be changed, but just can’t right now.

2. It’s going to be LOTS of work!! It takes a lot of work to paint all of your walls, rip up flooring and put new ones in, and not to mention all of the countless hours of cleaning you do too. Plus you also have to make multiple trips to home/hardware store to find what you need.

3. It can be stressful at times, especially when you are waiting on something to be done. It is also very tiring, especially when you work and then have to do more work when you get home.

4. It does cost a lot of money, especially to paint and fix things. It’s hard to realize all the little things that need to be fixed with a house. Just make sure you are budgeting and saving beforehand.

5. It can also be really fun at the same time to vision together and plan what the house will eventually look like! I always say, make the best out of anything! So have fun and laugh while you are working on the house together.

I know it is going to take us some time to really get everything settled in and make it feel like home, but it is our home and I am thankful to be here with my hubby. I am excited to fill this house with lots of memories as husband and wife and someday with hopefully our kids.

I will keep you all updated as we add decorations and furniture and add links to shop it all. I can’t wait for the decorating stage! We already went to Ikea recently and a found a couple pieces of furniture. I can’t wait to start picking out furniture for our home!

I hope you all have a great weekend and that this was helpful for those looking for a house soon.  I’d love to know if you have any advice for first time home owners and if you have any questions.

XOXO,

Autumn

Summer to Fall Transition Outfit Ideas/Back to school wardrobe must haves

It’s crazy to think we are almost halfway through August and that school starts again. I wanted to share with you all some of my favorite fall transition outfits along with some essentials for your back to school wardrobe.

You can now shop my looks by clicking on the links in this blog post of visiting the Liketoknowit app and following me on there under the name beyoutifuladventure.

We have been keeping busy with our new home and still finishing lots of painting. I can’t wait to show you all the finishing project in a couple weeks when we get the flooring in and we are all settled. It’s crazy to think we are almost halfway through August and that school starts again. I wanted to share with you all some of my favorite fall transition outfits along with some essentials for your back to school wardrobe.

I love anything that is trendy, chic, and girly all at the same time! One of my favorite pieces to wear inside as we go into the fall season are cardigans. I love layering my clothes which is another reason I love fall so much! My absolute favorite cardigans right now are these B.P. Cardigans from Nordstrom. They are a soft material and fit so well, plus they have pockets. I just love pockets in my clothing so I don’t always have to carry my purse around everywhere. I got this cardigan in a grey and oatmeal color in a size XS. They definitely fit true to size.

I am also crushing on long sleeve and short sleeve tees. I found two from American Eagle I love, two from Nordstrom, and one from Target. There are definitely options when it comes to picking good tees. I love the fit the best with my Nordstrom ones and American Eagle ones since I am more petite and they fit the best! This coral and white tee is the perfect transition piece since it can be worn by itself or with a cardigan and it comes in so many other colors as well. I am wearing an XS and it is a little big in the neck area, so I would say it’s good to size down one. I also love the grey striped tee I have from American Eagle for under $30 because of the V neck and the soft material.

Shoes are always my favorite when it comes to fall. I love these adorable mauve mules I found for under $25 at Target. They run a little small, so I would recommend going up a half size. They are so comfy and can be worn with dresses or jeans. I also love these black over the knee boots from Amazon for under $50. They are such a steal! Normally over the knee boots run from $80-$130. They have a flatter heel which I love and fit my height which is 5’3″. The material is suede so you might want to spray them with some protective spray, but they are definitely a great fall boot and even into winter.

When it comes to back to school wardrobe must haves, I recommend grabbing some short sleeve or long sleeve tees, a couple cardigans, denim jeans, a few casual dresses and definitely some mules. I linked several here and in the liketoknowit app as well.

I hope you all have a great weekend and enjoy the last couple weeks of summer! I’d love to hear from you all on what you think about these fall transition pieces. Feel free to leave a comment below.

My top favorite Nsale finds

It has been a busy week with moving and starting work on our new house. We are realizing more each day that we got ourselves a fixer upper, without the help of Johanna and Chip Gaines. We are painting all of our walls and having the flooring replaced which will be a huge change, but I will be sharing our updates in the next few weeks of our house. I realized today that the Nsale is ending this Sunday and I know you all are probably tired of hearing about it, but I wanted to share my favorite finds from it before it ends.

You can also now shop all my looks by following me on the LikeToKnowIt app!! Yayyy!! I will be adding a widget soon here to be able to shop as well.

Also, a quick reminder make sure to go and check out my most recent blog post on my teeth whitening routine and a giveaway for a free whitening kit!

Let’s start with my favorite tee I found from the Nsale! It’s so comfortable and fits so well. I love this color too cause you can wear it in summer and into fall with a cardigan as well. There are still a couple colors left in a couple sizes. It fits true to size and I am wearing an XS.

Another good find from the Nsale was these $31 cardigans! They are the perfect length even for a shorter girl like me and are so comfortable. I grabbed it in grey and tan, however I think there are only a couple colors left including black and grey in select sizes. I tagged some other cardigans from the sale that are still available and similar to it. It fits true to size, although I am wearing an XS in the oatmeal color and a Small in the grey. So you can either go your size or one size up too if you want more of an oversized look.

The one sweater I grabbed was this hot pink BP sweater. I absolutely love this one! It is probably the comfiest sweater I have ever owned. It is still in stock in two colors and sizes including this color in size XXS. It is a little loose fitting and I got an XS so I would say you can size down, unless you want more of the loose fit. It will be perfect in the fall or winter with some booties or over the knee boots.

I also got the Caslon tee for under $19 in burgundy and I love it. It has a fitter look to it, but it is such a great long sleeve tee. It is still available in black in an XS and other sizes in other colors. It fits true to size and I am wearing an XS. If you are worried about it being too tight I would maybe size up one.

These are what made it to my closet from the Nsale and are definitely my favorites! I linked a couple other items I liked, but didn’t get above as well. Happy Shopping!! If you have any ideas for things to do in Charleston, I would love to know! We planned our trip for October and are so excited! I seriously can’t wait for fall and being able to wear all these fall finds.

Hope you all have a great week!
