I hope you all have had a great weekend! I can’t believe how close we are to July 4th already. We had a fun weekend visiting Frederick, Md on Friday. We both have the day off so we usually take some time to go on a fun adventure together. I wanted to share with you all some of our favorite spots in Frederick and also some of my favorite summer accessories.

Frederick has a beautiful downtown with shops and restaurants. It also has a canal that runs right on the inside of the town. You can walk down there and grab a bite to eat or grab a favorite dessert at Cakes to Die For. We always make an effort to go there for a treat, they have amazing vegan/gluten free brownies. We are still trying out restaurants downtown, but a good place is Firestone’s. They make a lot of good food and can make anything gluten free there too. We also did a little bit of shopping for me at Francesca’s in Frederick. I will be sharing some of those looks in the next few weeks from there.

I love summertime and wearing sundresses as you all know! I wanted to share some of my favorite simple accessories that go with several different outfits.

Purses

One of my favorite trends this year is a straw crossbody bag. I love how you can wear it with jean shorts and a tank or with a maxi dress and heels. It’s so versatile for summer outfits. I shared my favorite one above from Amazon for $22 and a couple others I love.

I recently came across a white floral embroidered clutch at Francesca’s and I love it. It’s more of a dressier purse, but goes with any color. I got mine for $38 and linked it above.

Earrings

I am loving all the statement earrings this year. I have probably bought five pairs in different colors. My current favorite place to find statement earrings is at Target. I found my white tassel earrings from there and recently my turquoise tassel earrings as well. They have different earrings and colors to choose from. The brand is called sugarfix by Baublebar. Most of the earrings run around $13-$15.

Shoes

One of my favorite accessories is shoes. I am loving the espadrille wedges this year. I found a nude pair at J.Crew Factory on sale for $40. They normally run around $98, however J. Crew Factory normally runs a lot of sales and discounts. I found my black wedges at Charlotte Russe for $30. They normally have a lot of shoes at an affordable price.

I also love to find shoes that are comfortable and flat. My favorite place currently is Target. I found both my black sandals and my tan slides there for around $20. Both shoes run true to size and I linked both of them here for you.

I’d love to hear from you all what some of your favorite summer accessories are and what you are looking foreword to the most this summer! Hope you all had a great weekend!

XOXO,

Autumn

Denim Finds and Favorite Summer Trend

I am obsessed with my jeans!! Denim is a must have all year long, especially when you live in the north and it feels like 60 degrees outside in June. It has taken me a long time to find my favorite pair. I wanted to share with you all my favorite jeans and summer trend.

Thank you all for hanging in with me during this busy season of life. We are in the moving process and are super excited about moving into our new house this summer! So I will be sure to write a blog post on our home decor after we get settled. I am obsessed with my jeans!! Denim is a must have all year long, especially when you live in the north and it feels like 60 degrees outside in June. It has taken me a long time to find my favorite pair. I wanted to share with you all my favorite jeans and summer trend.

I have never spent a lot of money on jeans, but with coupons and sales it’s definitely worth it to me to spend a little more. I also struggled with finding jeans that fit me well with being short and curvy. It has taken me several tries to find a really good pair. I recently went into American Eagle Outfitters and found the most amazing pair of jeans though for 50% off. My husband needed a pair of jeans as well and it was buy one get one 50% off on jeans so we went for it. I got the high rise, dark wash, short jeans in a size 2 for $50 and I LOVE them. They are so comfortable and fit my height as well. I linked them above for you all! I normally wear a size 2 in pants and they are true to size.

My new summer obsession is everything Gingham. I own at least 5 items of gingham now and love wearing it. It’s a summer trend and looks so flattering on. This off the shoulder gingham top is one of my new favorites. It goes with denim, white shorts, white pants, and pretty much anything. I can throw on a pair of flats with it for a casual look or wedges/heels for a dressier look. I am wearing a size XS in the shirt.

I am loving all the retro looks for this summer and will definitely be sharing some more of my favorites for this season. Hope you all enjoy the looks as much as I do and you all come back to check out more of my summer favorites.

Autumn

Top Favorite Ice Cream and Snacks for on the go!

I absolutely LOVE ice cream!! I am a huge dessert fanatic. The only bad thing about ice cream is I am allergic to dairy. Thankfully there are several dairy free ice cream options at the grocery store now. I wanted to share my favorite and some of my go to snacks!

I absolutely LOVE ice cream!! I am a huge dessert fanatic. The only bad thing about ice cream is I am allergic to dairy. Thankfully there are several dairy free ice cream options at the grocery store now. I wanted to share my favorite and some of my go to snacks!

SoDelicious is the name of the brand of ice cream I get. I love their pints and also the mocha fudge bars. My favorite flavor is the coconut milk cookie dough. It’s really creamy and tastes as good as the ice cream. I definitely recommend this one if you’re a cookie dough fan.

Having a snack on the go is really important since I’m a busy person. It’s difficult to find healthy snacks that are gluten and dairy free. Here are my top three favorite.

1. Larabars

They are the easiest and quickest healthy snack to grab. My two favorite flavors are Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip. These are so good since they are mostly made with dates, which are a healthy sugar.

2. Walnuts and Blue Corn Chips

I love a bag of walnuts for a quick snack or some blue corn chips with guacamole. The blue corn chips from BJ’s wholesale foods are my favorite. You can grab a bag for $5 and it lasts for two weeks.

3. Fruit and Natural PB

This is one of my favorite snacks and easy to grab. I always keep some red delicious apples around or some bananas. I pair them with natural peanut butter that I get from Aldi. It’s a great protein packed snack!

I am a huge snack person, so it was definitely hard to narrow down my favorites. I hope you all enjoy some of these healthy snack ideas and the ice cream! Let me know if you find a flavor of SoDelicious ice cream you like. I would love some more suggestions!

Also, linked my green floral romper and my favorite wedges from Jcrew.

Hope you all have a great week!

Autumn

The comparison trap

Today I am talking about the struggle of comparison and how to overcome it.

This has been an extremely busy week filled with lots of packing. We are getting ready to move to Waynesboro. This has been a challenging week, with lots of stress of getting things packed. Lately, I have been dealing a lot with comparing myself to others. So, I wanted to write an encouraging post for women about this topic.

With different social media platforms out there, it is not hard to fall into the comparison trap. Every time you get on instagram or Facebook, a new post shows up of a husband and wife who are on vacation somewhere or a mom who is doing five jobs while also taking care of her kids well. It is difficult not to compare yourself, but it is a trap. Don’t listen to those lies that are being told to you.

We are each beautiful women created by God and designed for his purpose. Our purpose in life is to love God and love others second. How can we possibly do that when we are comparing our looks, profession, status, or worth to someone else. Our worth is not defined by money, status, job, relationships, or talents. We can’t even find our worth in our husbands, which I am guilty of doing so much. It will affect our relationship with them negatively, so we must first find our identity in Christ.

We are defined by God and who He says we are. God says we are beautiful women who have captivated Him. We cannot live a full life if we are always comparing. Check out Christy Nockels Glorious in the Mundane podcast for some awesome content on comparison. I have absolutely loved it and gained so much wisdom from it.

So the next time we scroll on Facebook or Instagram, let’s remember that our identity is not found in how many likes or comments we get, but rather who we are. We are each special and unique people created with a purpose. God wants the best for our lives and desires us to find our identity in him.

Also, this shirt I am wearing is out of stock, but I linked a similar one to it above. I am wearing a size XS in the shirt and size 2 in the shorts for sizing.

Hope you all have a great week!

XOXO,

Autumn

D.C. Zoo Adventures

My review on the d.c. zoo and best attire to wear for a casual date.

My hubby surprised me yesterday with a date to the D.C. zoo and one of my favorite restaurants in Frederick. It was the perfect day for the zoo. There were so many exhibits and animals to see there. Plus, it’s a free zoo so that’s amazing! I definitely recommend checking it out if you visit or live near the D.C. area.

My favorite part was the Panda exhibit, they had regular Panda’s and Red Panda’s which look like a mix between a panda and a fox. They also had lots of restaurants and things to do for kids there as well. I love animals, so it was definitely one of my favorite dates so far.

Definitely be prepared for lots of walking while you are there. I am thankful I wore my comfy flats from Target. They were perfect for walking around a lot and also how cute are these embroidered shorts from Target too?! You will want to wear something comfortable for all the walking you will do.

There was a neat frozen yogurt place across the street we went to after the zoo. They had tons of flavors and lots of sorbet which is my favorite. I got a watermelon sorbet, I definitely recommend that flavor.

We ended our Friday night at BJ’s Restaurant and Brewhouse in Frederick. If you live on the East coast and haven’t tried BJ’s, it’s a must. They have great beer and food, plus the most amazing dessert called Pzcookie. It’s like a giant cookie in a small cast iron skillet, topped with ice cream.

Do you guys enjoy surprise dates from your spouse/significant other? or do you prefer to know ahead of time? Also, I’d love to hear from you all if you have any more small day trip date adventure ideas. I love adventures and visiting new places, so suggestions are appreciated!

Hope you all have a great weekend and Happy Early Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there! Especially my amazing mom, who is the best mom in the world!

XOXO,

Autumn
